Have a Holly Jolly Christmas는 미국 포크 가수 Burl Ives가 1965년 발표한 동명의 크리스마스 앨범에 수록된 타이틀 곡으로 1965년 10월 Decca Records에서 처음으로 발매되었는데, 빌보드 차트에서 6위까지 오르며 히트했고, 해마다 연말 시즌이 되면 챠트에 오르는 아메리칸 클래식 이라 할 수 있다.

 

 

2019년에 이 곡은 빌보드 차트에서 TOP10에 진입함으로써, Louis Armstrong이 86세에 세웠던 최고령 Top 10 히트곡의 기록을 갱신 하고 자신이 가장 고령의 나이에 Top 10에 오른 가수로 기록되었다.

 

Johnny Marks가 작곡한 이곡을 최초로 불렀던 가수는 The Quinto Sisters 였으나, 1964년의 TV용 애니메이션 <Rudolph Red-Nosed Reindeer>에서 눈사람인 Sam 역할을 맞았던 Burl Ives가 커버한 버전이 OST 앨범에 커버한 곡이 수록되면서 지금까지도 오랜세월동안 사랑받고 있다.

 

그리고 이듬해에 Burl Ives는 OST에 수록된 버전에 비해 느리고, 도입부에 어쿠스틱 기타연주를 넣은 새버전을 녹음 하기도 했다.

 

 

 

그리고 세대를 내려와 최근에는 Michael Buble가 커버 하기도 했다.
