1970년에 결성되어 80년대 초반까지 인기를 끌었던 미국의 4인조 밴드.

​

Progressive Rock 시대의 아티스트들에게서 영감을 받았던 그들은 지역에서 유명한 밴드가 되었고,

​

사람이라는게 참 우연과 필연의 영향을 많이 받는 듯 한것이, 1971년 Hollywood Bowl에서 임향을 담당하던 친구가 새롭게 설치된 음향 시스템을 테스트하기 위해서 Ambrosia에게 무대에서 연주를 해달라고 요청을 했는데, 마침 그것을 본 Bowl의 수석 엔지니어였던 Gordon Parry가 눈이 번쩍 뜨였다고 한다.

Gordon은 Los Angeles Philharmonic의 공연에 그들을 다시 초대하고, 여기에서 누군가를 소개시켜 주는데 그가 바로 Ambrosia를 All-American Dream Concert의 일부분으로 그들을 선보이게 해준 Zubin Mehta 였다고 한다.

이로써 대중음악과 오케스트라를 넘나드는 대규모 공연에 협연그룹으로 나서게 되면서 음악계 전역에 알려지게되는 계기가 되었다고 한다.

Amrosia는 20세기 폭스와 계약을 하고 1975년 첫번째 앨범인 "Ambrosia"를 발표했는데, 그 해 그레미상 후보로 노미네이트 되기도 했다(Best Engineered Recording 부문).,

이듬해인 1976년 두번째 앨범인 "Somewhere I've Never Traveled "를 발표 했고, 이 앨범은 타이틀 곡과 싱글 "Can't Let a Woman"을 내놓았는데, 둘 다 풍부한 오케스트라와 보컬 편곡이 특징인 FM 인기곡이 되었는데, 또다시 그 해 그레미 상 후보로 노미네이트 되기도 했다.

2장의 앨범을 성공리에 소화해낸 그들은 20세기 폭스와의 계약을 종료하고, Warner Bros. Records와 계약을 하게 된다.

1980년 4월 Warner Bros를 통해서 Ambrosia는 새 앨범 "One Eighty"를 발표하는데, 그 해 최고의 히트곡 2곡이 이 앨범에 포함되어 있었다.

- 첫 번째는 "Biggest Part Of Me"로 빌보드 Hot100에서 3주 동안이나 3위를 기록했고, Soul Chart로 넘어와서는 35위를 기록 하기도 했다.

- 두 번째인 "You're Only Woman"는 Blue Eyed Soul 곡으로 빌보드 Hot 100 에서 13 를 기록했다.

그리고 이 앨범 "One Eighty" 는 Best Pop Vocal을 포함하여 3개의 그래미 후보에 올르기도 했다.

시간이 흐르고, ABrosia의 인기도 시들해지면서 1982년 팀은 해제를 하게 되는데, 1989년에 멤버들은 다시 모여 투어를 하기 시작했는데, 2001년 기타리스트 David Pack이 영구히 팀을 떠나게 되고 그 전년도의 일부 공연에서 그를 대신했던 Doug Jackson으로 교체 된 후 지금까지 꾸준히 투어와 음악활동을 하고 있는 장수팀이다.
