Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer - Kenny Rogers & Kim Carnes.1980(이야기들)

"Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer"는 미국의 가수 Kenny Rogers의 9번째 앨범 <Gideon>의 수록곡으로 Kenny Rogers와 Kim Carnes가 듀엣으로 불렀는데, 게스트 보컬로 함께 노래한 Kim Carnes와 그녀의 남편 David Ellingson이 함께 만들었고, Larry Butler와 Kenny Rogers가 함께 프로듀싱 하였다.

 

 

앨범의 첫 번째 싱글로 발매되어 빌보드 HOT100에서 4위, 컨트리 차트에서 3위에 올랐으며, 캐나다의 RPM 컨트리 차트에서 1위를 차지했고, 호주, 뉴질랜드에서 TOP40에 들며 영미권에서 사랑받았다.

 

 

원래 Kim Carnes 본인의 키에 맞춰 만들었던 이 곡은 녹음을 위해 Nashville(내슈빌)의 스튜디오에 왔을 때 Kenny Rogers의 키에 맞춰서 그 자리에서 키를 조정하여 즉흥적으로 불렀는데, 라이브로 세션들의 연주 한 가운데서 그들과 눈을 마주하며 노래를 불렀던 분위기가 곡을 더욱 풍성하고 생기있게 만들어주었다고 한다.

 

 

Kenny Rogers는 이 곡을 굉장히 아꼈던 듯 하다. 그는 이 곡을 "No Te Enamores De Un Loco"란 이름으로 스페인어 버전을 발표하기도 했으며, 여러명의 다른 여가수들과 함께 듀엣으로 소화하기도 했는데, 레이블을 옮겨 컴필레이션 앨범을 낼 때 빼지않고 반드시 수록했던 곡이 이 곡이기 때문이다.

한국에서는 1987년에 서울훼밀리가 인생의 길목에서(On the Crossroads in Life)란 이름으로 번안해서 불렀는데, 김승미의 쨍한 듯하면서 동시에 허스키한 듯한 보컬이 일품이다.
