로드 스튜어트가 1991년 발표한 <Vegabond Heart>에 수록된 곡으로, 1993년 발표했던 <Unplugged...and Seated>에 라이브 버전으로 수록되어 미국과 영국에서 큰 인기를 얻었던 곡이다.
이 " Have I Told You Lately "는 북아일랜드의 싱어송라이터인 Van Morrison 이 1989년 발표했던 그의 19번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Avalon Sunset> 수록한 곡으로 , 원래는 "prayer"로 만들었다고 하는데 오리지널 곡은 영국 챠트에서 75위까지 밖에 오르지 못했던 곡이지만, 시간이 흐르면서 Rod Stewart를 비롯하여 정말로 수많은 가수들이 커버했고, 수많은 매체에서 뽑은 위대한 사랑 노래들중에 한 곡으로 반드시 꼽히는 대표적인 사랑을 속삭이는 노래의 대표중 하나가 되었다. (미국, 영국, 유럽에서는 결혼식등에서 고정 레파토리로 연주될 정도로 익숙한 로맨틱 발라드다 .)
큰 인기를 끌었던 Live 버전을 시작할때 당시의 아내였던 Rachel Hunter를 언급한다.
Rod Stewart 는 <Vagabond Heart> 에서 처음 이 노래를 커버했지만, 1993년 발표했던 <Unplugged...and Seated> 의 라이브 버전이 오히려 큰 인기를 끌게되고, 미국과 영국에서 각각 차트의 5위까지 오르는 히트를 기록했다.
Rod Stewart의 허스키한 목소리와는 전혀 다른 느낌의 원곡.
