"Independent Love Song"은 보컬인 Cheryl Parker와 피아니스트인 Jo Youle로 구성된 영국의 musical duo인 Scarlet의 데뷔 앨범 <Naked>에 수록된 곡으로, UK 싱글 차트에서 12위까지 올랐고, 독일 & 아이슬란드 & 스웨덴 & 스위스에서 Top 50위의 성적을 냈던 스테디셀러 곡이다.

작곡 작사는 Cheryl 과 Jo가 하였으며, 프로듀싱은 Mike Paxman이 맏았다.

이 곡의 뮤직 비디오는 뉴욕 타임 스퀘어 에서 촬영했는데, 흑백 화면으로 피아노에 앉아있는 Cheryl Parker (보컬)와 Jo Youle (피아니스트)이 노래를 연주하는 모습과 큐피드 복장을 한 아이들이 지나가는 사람들이 사랑에 빠지게 만드는 장면을 감각적인 영상으로 담아내어 지금봐도 촌스럽지 않다.

최근에는 아일랜드버전 응답하라1988이라고 할 수 있는 DERRY GIRLS에서 당시를 상징하는 음악으로 자주 배경에 깔리며 등장하는데, 배경이 촌동네인 북아일랜드의 Derry 지역이지만, 지구반대편의 아일랜드의 90년대도 우리들의 90년대와 크게 다르지 않았구나 하는 생각과 90년대의 모습에 이 곡을 대입하면 오묘한 감정이 피어 오르는 것을 막을 수 없다.
