Don't You Want Me - The Human League.1981(이야기들)

"Don't You Want Me"는 영국의 신스팝 그룹 The Human League의 세 번째 정규 앨범 <Dare>의 수록곡으로 Jo Callis & Philip Oakey & Philip Adrian Wright이 함께 만들었고, Martin Rushent가 프로듀싱 하였다.

 

 

앨범의 네 번째 싱글로 발매된 이 곡은 빌보드 HOT100에서 3주동안 1위를 차지하였고, 영국, 캐나다, 벨기에, 아일랜드, 이스라엘, 뉴질랜드, 노르웨이등에서 차트 1위를 차지하였으며, 호주, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 네덜란드, 스페인, 남아공, 스웨덴, 스위스, 독일 등에서 TOP10에 들며 전세계적으로 크게 사랑받았다.

 

 

발표된 이듬해인 1982년 빌보드 연말차트에서 5위까지 올랐을 정도로 한 해 내내 엄청난 사랑을 받았으며, 그 다음해인 1983년 11월, Rolling Stone지는 이 곡을 "breakthrough song"(획기적인 노래)라면서 Beatles(비틀즈)에 이은 "Second British Invasion"(두 번째 브리티쉬 인베이젼)으로 명명할 정도였다.

 

이 곡은 또한 당시에 최초로 개발된 혁신적인 기계였던 "Linn LM-1"이라는 이름의 Drum Computer(드럼 컴퓨터)를 사용하여 만들어진 최초의 노래인 동시에 최초로 빌보드 HOT100을 비롯한 각국의 차트에서 1위를 차지한 첫 번째 노래로 유명한데, "Linn LM-1"이라는 이름의 Drum Computer(드럼 컴퓨터)는 1980년에 출시된 드럼 머신인데, 신디사이저로 가상으로 만들어진 드럼 사운드가 아닌, 실제 어쿠스틱 드럼 사운드의 샘플을 사용한 최초의 드럼 머신인 동시에 최초의 프로그래밍이 가능한 드럼 머신이었다.

 

 

이 LM-1은 1980년대에는 팝 음악의 필수품이 되었고 Human League, Gary Numan, Mecano, Icehouse, Michael Jackson, Prince 를 포함한 톱 아티스트들의 레코드에 사용되기도 했다.
