"Stuck on You"는 Lionel Richie(라이오넬 리치)의 두 번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Can't Slow Down>에 수록된 곡으로 Lionel Richie본인이 만들었고, Lionel Richie & James Anthony & Carmichael가 함께 프로듀생 하였다.

 

 

앨범의 네 번째 싱글로 발매된 이 곡은 미국과 영국에서 크게 히트하였는데, 빌보드 Adult Contemporary차트 1위, 캐나다 Adult Contemporary차트 1위, 빌보드 HOT 100에서 3위, UK차트 12위를 비롯하여 영미권에서 크게 성공을 거두었다.

 

 

 

싱글 표지를 보면 알 수 있듯이 이 곡은 R&B가 아닌 미국 백인들의 전통음악이라고도 할 수 있는 컨트리 팝의 영향을 보여주는 곡이라는 점에서 Lionel Richie가 기존에 그가 추구해 왔던 방향과 확연히 달랐다.

Lionel Richie는 코모도스로 시작했지만, 자신의 음악적 방향이 흑인들만을 위한 흑인음악만이 아닌 자신의 음악을 하고 싶었기에 독립하여 솔로로활동을 했고, 작곡,작사,보컬,프로듀싱까지 음악적 역량이 매우 뛰어났던 그는 백인들이 좋아하는 음악을 한다는 이유로 흑인들로부터 많은 공격을 받기도 했다.

 

 

 

하지만, Lionel Richie가 자신의 커리어의 정점을 찍으면서 전세계인들의 사랑을 받았던 최고 전성기였던 80년대는 "백인들이 좋아하는 음악"을 해서가 아니라, 세계시민으로써 인종과 국가에 구애받지않고 모든이들이 사랑할 수 있는 보편적인 음악을 해서였기 때문이고, 특히나 이 곡은 한국인들의 감성에 딱 들어맞는 .
