"Complicated "는 캐나다의 싱어송라이터 Avril Lavigne 의 데뷔 스튜디오 앨범 <Let Go>의 수록곡으로 Avril Lavigne과 The Matrix (Lauren Christy , Scott Spock, Graham Edwards)가 공동으로 창작하였고 The Matrix가 프로듀싱 하였다.

 

2002년 3월 Arista Records 에서 앨범의 리드 싱글로 발매된 이 곡은 빌보드 HOT 100 2위, 영국, 호주, 아일랜드, 뉴질랜드, 노르웨이에서 차트 1위를 차지했으며, 20여개국에서 TOP 5 안에 들었으며 글로벌 세일즈 집계 1,600만장(실물과 음원 다운로드 합산) 이라는 메가히트를 기록하며 엄청난 사랑을 받으면서 2000년대초에 가히 신드롬이라고 부를만한 인기를 구가했다.

2003년 GRAMMY AWARDS에서 'Song Of the Year' 와 'Best Female Pop Vocal Performance' 2개 부문에 노이네이트 되었으며, MTV 비디오 뮤직 어워드에서 비디오 부문 최우수 신인상을 수상했고, 2003년 Juno Awards 에서 올해의 싱글 부문을 수상했으며, 그 외 많은 시상식에 노미네이트 되거나 수상하기도 했다.

Pop과 Rock을 결합한 Pop-Rock의 이 곡은, 전체 분위기가 Pop-Rock으로 되어 있는 앨범의 다른 곡들과 함께 Pop Punk 음악을 메인스트림으로 진입하게 하는데 일조했고, 여성을 앞세운 팝 펑크 밴드와 여성이 주도하는 펑크의 영향을 받은 팝 음악의 부상에 기여했기 때문에 일부 매니악한 팬층에 국한되어 있던 팝 펑크 음악계를 크게 변화시킨 앨범으로 여겨진다.
