"Creep"은 영국의 Alternative Rock band인 Radiohead의 데뷔 앨범 <Pablo Honey>에 수록된 곡으로 1992 그들의 데뷔 싱글로 발매되었다. Radiohead & Albert Hammond & Mike Hazlewood가 공동으로 작곡했고, Thom Yorke가 작사했으며, Sean Slade & Paul Q. Kolderie가 프로듀싱 하였다.

 

The Hollies의 곡으로 유명한 'The Air That I Breathe'라는 곡을 표절했다는 의혹이 있었고 원작곡가인 Albert Hammond & Mike Hazlewood는 표절로 법정 소송을 제기하였고, 공방 중에 쌍방 합의에 이르러 결국 공동 작곡으로 처리된 곡이기에 개인적으로 이 곡에 엄청나게 대단한 감정을 느끼지는 못하는 편이다.

이 곡은 발매 당시에는 그다지 주목받지 못했던 곡이었는데, 저 멀리 이스라엘에서 라디오 DJ인 Yoav Kutner가 종종 선곡을 하여 조금씩 알려진 이 후, 미국 Alternative Rock 라디오에서 인기를 얻게 된다. 그리하여 1993년에 재발매되어 세계적인 히트를 쳤으며, Nirvana의 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'에 종종 비견될 정도로 많은 사랑을 받았다.

 

 

 

이 곡은 너무나도 압도적인 인기를 얻었기에 엄청난 각인 효과를 가져왔고, Radiohead = Creep, Creep =Radiohead 이라는 등식을 성립하게 하면서 다른 어떠한 곡도 떠오르지 못하게 하는 아이러니한 결과를 자여왔기에, 무려 5집까지 발매하는 오랜 시간동안 그들은 Creep에서 벗어나려 몸부림 쳐야 했다.
