"Hard Habit to Break"는 1984년 발매된 앨범 <Chicago 17>에 수록된 곡으로 Steve Kipner와 John Lewis Parker가 작곡했고, David Foster가 편곡 및 프로듀싱한 노래로, Bill Champlin과 Peter Cetera가 함께 리드 보컬을 맏았다.

앨범의 두 번째 싱글로 발매된 이 곡은 빌보드 HOT 100에서 3위를 기록했고, UK 차트에서 8위를 기록하는등 이제는 한물간 그룹 취급받던 그들이 다시금 예전의 영광의 자리로 올라가는 첫 앨범이 된다.

 

 

많은 사랑을 받았던 이 곡은 무려 4개의 GRAMMY AWARDS 후보에 올랐고, 프로듀서인 David Foster는 Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocal 상을 수상한다. Chicago 그룹은 Record of the Year와 Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal 을 수상하고, 메인 보컬 이었던 Peter Cetera는 Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices를 수상한다.
