더 이상 유명할 수 없을 정도로 전세계인들의 사랑을 받는 크리스마스 캐롤인 이 곡은 Edward Pola와 George Wyle이 만들고 Robert Mersey가 프로듀싱하여 1963년 발매한 Andy Williams의 크리스마스 앨범 <The Andy Williams Christmas Album>에 수록되어 빌보드 차트 10위, UK 차트 17위를 기록 했었다.

Andy Williams는 1963년 처음으로 이 곡을 녹음한 이후로 자신이 생전에 발표한 모든 크리스마스 앨범에 이 곡을 수록했는데, 시대를 뛰어넘어 지금까지도 가장 사랑받는 버전은 오리지널인 1963년 버전이다

Andy Williams의 이 곡은 오랜세월 마치 숨쉬는 공기처럼 매년 연말시즌에 대중들과 함께해 왔는데, 21세기로 접어든 2001년에 American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers(ASCAP)가 홀리데이 노래의 라디오 방송에 관한 데이터를 집대성하기 시작했고, Andy Williams 이 크리스마스 클래식은 순위가 매겨진 25곡 중 25위에서 시작하게 된다. 하지만, 이듬해인 2002년에는 18위, 2003년에는 13위, 2010년에는 4위에 오르는등 해가 갈수록 그 위상이 높아지며 이 곡이 가지고 있는 가치를 높게 평가하는 분위기다.
