"Sweat (A La La La La Long)"은 자메이카의 레게 퓨전 그룹 Inner Circle의 12번째 앨범 <Bad to Bone>의 수록곡으로 Ian Lewis & Roger Lewis가 만들었고, Ian Lewis & Roger Lewis & Touter Harvey가 공동 프로듀싱 하였다.

앨범의 리드 싱글로 발매된 이곡은 벨기에, 독일, 이스라엘, 네덜란드, 뉴질랜드, 포르투갈, 스위스, 짐바브웨등 8개국에서 차트 1위를 차지했고, 빌보드 HOT100에서 16위를 비롯하여 영국, 호주, 오스트리아, 덴마크, 그리스, 아일랜드, 노르웨이, 스웨덴, 핀란드등에서 TOP10 을 기록하는등 전세계적으로 사랑을 받았다.

 

 

이 곡은 대중적인 성공은 물론 평단에서도 고루 호평을 받았는데,

빌보드의 Larry Flick은 "무척 재미있고 (몸을)흔들거리는 페이스로 청자를 끌고간다"면서 "Topping on the cake is a sing-along refrain and chorus that will be the soundtrack to a bright summer day."(밝은 여름날의 사운드트랙이라 할만한 후렴구와 코러스가 이 곡의 화룡정점이라 할 수 있다.)며 극찬했고,

Cashbox의 편집장인 Troy J. Augusto는 이 곡을 두고 "Actually, this incredibly catchy and brisk pop/raga-tune will rule the summer airwaves as the band sweats all the way to the bank."(이 놀랍도록 중독성 있고 활기찬 팝/레게 곡은 여름 방송을 지배할 것이다)라고 치켜 세웠으며,

 

Gavin Report의 편집장 Dave Sholin은 이 곡을 두고 "WINNER"(승자)라는 한마디로 곡의 가치를 높게 평가했다.

 

뮤직비디오는 이 곡의 프로모션을 위해 Mathias Julien의 감독하에 제작되었는데, 이 곡의 분위기처럼 밝고 드는이를 리듬에 맞춰 흐느적거리게 만드는 매력이 있다.

(그냥 흥겹게 노래하고 춤추는 뮤비 같은데, 은근히 스토리가 있다. 웨이트리스로 일하는 그녀의 마음을 얻어 둘이 떠나고, 레스토랑 사장은 놀라서 Hey!! 하고 부르는 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ)

 

 

 

한국에서는 별 생각없이 밝고 경쾌한 레게음악으로 여름에 방송되는 예능프로의 배경음악으로 많이 사용되곤 하는데, 생각보다 가사가 많이 야하다.....
