앨범의 타이틀인 이 곡은 Lady Gaga가 일관되게 추구하던 평화 & 사랑 & 평등의 메세지를 담고 있는데, 비유 혹은 은유적인 표현이 아닌 대놓고 하고 싶은 말을 다 적어놨기에, 인문학적 소양의 부재에서 나온 대놓고 평등! 평등! 평등! 사랑! 사랑! 사랑! 구호를 외치는 진부한 가사라며 비판 받거나, 혹은 대놓고 LGBT 팬덤을 상업적으로 이용하려 한다는 비판에 시달리기도 했다.

위의 가사 일부를 보자면, 상술한 것과 같이 화자가 말하고자 하는 메시지를 너무 대놓고 직접적으로 서술 했기에 공개 당시에는 혹독한 비평이 쏟아졌지만, 시간이 지나면서 결과적으로는 걸출한 메시지 송으로 확고히 자리매김하였다. 항상 일관되게 평화 & 사랑 & 평등을 지향하는 그녀의 노선에 가장 적합하기도 하다는 이유로 Lady Gaga의 대표곡으로 여겨지곤 한다.
