"I'll Stand by You"는 Pretenders의 여섯 번째 스튜디오 앨범인 <Last of the Independents>에 수록된 곡으로, Chrissie Hynde와 작곡팀인 Tom Kelly & Billy Steinberg 이 만들었고 Ian Stanley가 프로듀싱한 발라드 곡으로 , 개인의 암울한 시기에 사랑하는 사람에게 사랑과 믿음을 맹세하는 발라드이다. 특히나 완숙해진 Chrissie Hynde의 보컬로 가슴속 깊은 울림을 만들어 내는 곡으로 대중과 평단 모두에게서 극찬을 받았던 스테디 셀러이다.

 

 

 

 

 

1994년 4월 11일에 발매된 "I'll Stand by You"는 호주, 벨기에, 캐나다, 아이슬란드, 영국, 미국 등 여러 국가의 차트에서 Top 20위 안에 들었고, 2004년 영국 걸그룹 Girls Aloud와 2007년 미국 컨트리 가수 Carrie Underwood의 주요 히트곡이 되기도 했었으며 두 번 모두 자선 싱글로 녹음되었다.

콜롬비아 가수 Shakira는 2010년 자선 생방송 텔레톤 Hope for Haiti Now를 위해 이 노래를 불렀는데, 그녀의 표지 버전은 Hope for Haiti Now라는 제목의 자선 앨범으로 공개 되었다.
