"Hold My Hand"는 미국의 싱어송 라이터인 Lady Gaga의 곡으로 공전의 히트를 기록한 영화 <Top Gun: Maverick> 사운드트랙의 리드 싱글로써 Lady Gaga와 Michael Tucker이 함께 만들었고, Lady Gaga 와 BloodPop 그리고 Benjamin Rice가 함께 프로듀싱 하였다.

 

 

빌보드 HOT 100에서 49위를 차지했고, 빌보드 Adult Contemporary차트에서 9위에 올랐으며, 캐나다, 벨기에, 크로아티아, 헝가리, 스위스, 타이완등에서 TOP 10에 들며 전세계적으로 많은 사랑을 받았다.

 

 

전작인 <Top Gun>(탑건) 1편의 주제가인 "Take My Breath Away"에 해당하는 비중의 곡으로, 언젠가부터 영화의 메인 OST곡이 8,90년대처럼 온전히 영화를 위해 새로 작곡된 곡을 쓰지 않고 기존의 히트곡을 가져다 쓰는 풍조가 생겨버린 와중에 오랜만에 오롯이 영화를 위해 만들어진 곡으로 나름 무게감 있게 잘 뽑힌 곡임에도 불구하고 차트를 석권하는 정도의 파괴력을 발휘하진 못했다.

 

 

Lady Gaga와 Michael Tucker에 따르면 이 곡은 "a love letter to the world during and after a very hard time"(매우 힘든 시간-코비드 펜데믹을 의미- 동안 그리고 그 이후에 세상에 보내는 러브레터)의 의미로 작사작곡 되었다고한다.

 

 

음악적으로 봤을때 "Hold My Hand"는 희망을 노래하는 Arena Rock(아레나 록)으로, Anthemic 코러스와 Electric guitar와 함께 장중함을 극대화 시킨 분위기가 특징인 이 곡은, 발표 당시 비평가들에 의해 전작 영화인 <Top Gun>의 "Take My Breath Away"이 발매되었던 1980년대 Power Balad에서 영감을 얻었다고 지적하면서 대체적으로 긍정적인 평가를 받았다.
