"Just Way You Are"는 Billy Joel의 다섯 번째 스튜디오 앨범 <The Stranger>에 수록된 곡으로, 같은해인 1977년 9월 해당 앨범의 리드 싱글로 발매되었다. Billy Joel 본인이 작곡했고, Phil Ramone이 프로듀싱 했으며, 매우 감미로운 색소폰 솔로는 유명한 재즈 연주자이자 그래미상을 수상한 Phil Woods가 연주했다.

이 곡은 Billy Joel의 첫 번째 미국 Top 3를 기록하게 해주었으며, UK 차트에서는 19위, 카나다 2위등을 기록하며 사랑을 받았으며, 1978년 1월 한 달 동안이나 빌보드 Easy Listening 차트 1위를 차지했다.

또한 "Just Way You Are"는 1979년 GRAMMY AWARDS에서 Record of the Year 과 Song of the Year 두 개 부분에서 수상했다.

Billy Joel은 이 노래의 멜로디와 코드 진행이 그가 꾸었던 꿈에서 영감을 얻었다고 밝혔는데, 그가 당시의 아내(당시 그의 비즈니스 매니저이기도 함)였던 Elizabeth Weber를 위해 완성한 이 곡은, 5년이 지난 1982년에 두사람이 이혼한 후, 1986년 이후부터 2000년대까지 라이브에서 거의 공연하지 않았으며 Joel은 공개적으로 Elizabeth와 이혼한 후 라이브로 이 곡을 연주하는 것이 싫다고 밝혔습니다.

(당시 이혼 후 이 곡을 연주하는 동안 드러머인 Liberty DeVitto가 코러스에서 "그녀는 집을 얻었다. 그녀는 차를 얻었다"라는 가사로 Billy Joel을 놀렸었다고 언급하기도 했다.)
