The Sad Cafe- Eagles.1979(이야기들)

"The Sad Cafe"는 미국의 록밴드 Eagles의 여섯번 째 앨범 <The Long Run>의 수록곡으로 Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, J.D.Souther가 함께 만들었고, Bill Szymczyk이 프로듀싱 하였다.

I don't know why fortune smiles on some and lets the rest go free

Some of their dreams came true, some just passed away And some of them stayed behind, inside the Sad Café

이 곡이 수록된 앨범<The Long Run>은 Asylum Records에서의 작업한 마지막 스튜디오 앨범이자, 창립 멤버인 Randy Meisner를 대체한 Timothy B. Schmit이 참여한 최초의 Eagles 앨범인 동시에, Don Felder가 참여한 마지막 정규 스튜디오 앨범으로, "Heartache Tonight", "The Long Run", "I Can't Tell You Why"세 곡이 싱글이 발매되었고, 그중에 "Heartache Tonight"은 빌보드 HOT100에서 1위에 올랐고 Grammy Award에서 <Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal>상을 수상하기도 했다.

[Verse 1]
Out in the shiny night, the rain was softly falling
Tracks that ran down the boulevard had all been washed away
Out of the silver light, the past came softly calling
And I remember the times we spent inside the Sad Café

Oh, it seemed like a holy place, protected by amazing grace
And we would sing right out loud, the things we could not say
We thought we could change this world with words like "love" and "freedom"
We were part of the lonely crowd inside the Sad Café

[Chorus]
Oh, expecting to fly
We would meet on that beautiful shore in the sweet by and by

[Verse 2]
Some of their dreams came true, some just passed away
And some of them stayed behind, inside the Sad Café

{Acoustic Solo}

[Bridge]
The clouds rolled in and hid that shore
Now that Glory Train, it don't stop here no more
Now I look at the years gone by and wonder at the powers that be
I don't know why fortune smiles on some and lets the rest go free

[Verse 3]
Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things in this life change very slowly if they ever change at all
No use in asking why, it just turned out that way
So meet me at midnight baby inside the Sad Café
Why don't you meet me at midnight, baby, inside the Sad Café

{Saxophone Solo}
